Help Build these Websites

We need your help for this endeavor to work. You may do that by visiting the various pages that have been created so far. Send us your feedback comments to guide us further in developing the various. Better still, please join us in creating the various pages, by contributing article, photos, links, posting comments, etc.

And if you are loaded and believe in what we are trying to achieve here, please be generous with your financial support. We can always use the dough.

The One World website is one of our projects to create more dynamic and interactive pages for Treasures of the Internet (cache). If this is your first time to visit any of the new dynamic pages of the Treasures of the Internet (cache) and all its affiliated websites, please visit the New Visitor's Guide?, for further instructions.

The One World websites will focus on the different countries and peoples of the world. Here we use the national holidays (right column section) for each month to highlight specific countries and peoples of the world.

In the future, we hope to include socio-cultural events that transcend national boundaries and observed by peoples in different parts of the world that share common cultural (including religious) heritage.

Inside the "One World" website

One World" comprises actually of multiple websites each prepated with its own software. Once fully develop, it will include individual websites for countries and peoples of the world, related photogalleries, calendars, forums, links directories, and more.

What's New

One World PhotoGalleries

We are launching quite a number of photogalleries for the various websites associated with Treasures of the Internet (cache). The photogalleries associated with the One World website is referred to collectively as One World PhotoGalleries. The photogalleries for this section will focus on different countries and peoples of the world.

Please read the Introduction to TOTI PhotoGalleries? for further instructions on what photos are desired and the expectations expected of you (and Treasures of the Internet (cache)), if you wish to submit photos to in any of the photogalleries.

Our ultimate goal for the photogalleries is not just to have nice photos, although we do want those and one of the criteria for selection of photos that will be included in the permanent archives. Rather, our goal in the One World PhotoGalleries is to capture the heart and soul of the people for each country. This would require a sense a sensibility and understanding of the culture.

We use the term, "photogalleries" because we anticipate to create several databases for the archived photos of the different countries in various regions of the world.

The One World Website

"A picture is worth a thousand words.", as the cliche goes, and it's true. However, we have better appreciation of the photos we view, especially of the places we have not visited so far, or the peoples we have yet to meet, if we know more about them.

In the One World related websites therefore, what we hope to achieve is share with you integrated (cross-accessible) photogalleries of individual countries with a brief overview about the country and her people. For example, please view our preliminary attempts for:

You may also get enlarged versions of the photos for better viewing. Outside links (that are carefully selected, from reputable institutions and organizations) are also included, if you wish to learn more about a country and her people. For your protection, we avoided, if possible, the inclusion of "ads-rich" website that many have ads or contents with hidden spywares and other diabolical constructs that can mess up your computer. [We don't guarantee that this is always the case. So, take precaution whenever viewing any website that you aree not familiar with.]

At present, the current contents of the above "country websites" are quite rudimentary based mainly from public domain materials, e.g., CIA Fact Book, Wikipedia, US Census, etc. We hope to improve each page content, with time, but our present focus is to include a basic country website, for each of the countries of the world. You may help us achieve this goal by contributing contents (photos, articles, etc.) to any of the websites and photogalleries.

Future Plans

"Our World Today" Project

There are many significant events that occur in the day-to-day lives of people all over the world that may never get media attention because they are not considered to attract mass audience. If you use commercial media as the sole basis of your view of the world, you get the impression that Israel's conflict with its neighbors is the only thing significant that is happening in our world today. The events in the Middle East is a tragedy. Among its root causes includes our failure (quite often) to understand the aspirations and dreams of our fellow human beings who we have to co-exist with. This is compounded by human tendency to consider our individual point of view as the correct point of view, so that we feel compelled to believe that the other side must be "wrong" in order for us to be "right". In the end we bind ourselves to the use of force in order for our perspective to prevail. Among nations, this usually means declaration of war.

The lesson of Vietnam is that even the powerful nation in the world did not have enough "gun power" to cower a smaller Asian nation — especially so when the American people withdrew its moral support to the war effort. The more important lesson is what we learned in Northern Ireland; where decades of animosity was never resolved by the use of force. Eventually, it was the willingness of people to listen and understand each other that led to the current peaceful co-existence, however tenous it might be at the moment.

One of the goals of the One World website is to help foster understanding among peoples of the world.
